Christmas cheer as Time FM donates bags of toys
22 December 2010

The Family Support Service are thrilled after they received a donation of toys and games from Time FM in Romford. As part of the radio stations ‘Give a Child a Christmas’ campaign, they asked listeners to buy one extra present, so that they could be given to local children who will not be surrounded by presents this year.
Time FM decided to donate two bags of toys, including a table top air hockey game, books and cars to Saint Francis Hospice, for use in the children’s room.
The children’s room is located on the Inpatients Unit, and is a space for young people to have some time out while they are visiting family in the hospice. The room is filled with toys, a small TV, and a sofa bed, and is due to be refurbished early in 2011, thanks to a grant from St. James’s Place Foundation, so the toys will be introduced then.
Sarah Ross, who helps to organise the campaign for Time FM, said: “We deliver our toys to a broad range of children, for example to very needy children for whom this will be the only gift they will get this Christmas, but also to hospitals, foster homes, social services, and of course our local hospice. Every year we are more and more grateful, listeners get more generous if anything."
Paul Sullivan, the Family Support Services Manager said: “We are very grateful to Time FM for donating these items. It’s so important for young people to have a room that offers them some time out, to relax or to play, so the toys are hugely special.”
