Comedian picks out raffle winners

Comedian Jimmy Jones was guest of honour at the Saint Francis Hospice shop in Upminster when he picked the winning tickets for the charity shop’s Christmas raffle.

Among the prizes were an art deco glass perfume bottle as top prize, hampers including chocolates and alcohol and games and Jimmy, from Upminster, who has been entertaining people for 50-years, picked out the lucky winners on Friday, 18th December.

Jimmy, who is due to release an autobiography next year called Jimmy Jones, This is a True Story, said: “Saint Francis Hospice is such a lovely place with the care it provides and I’m pleased to support the charity when I can.”

The raffle has raised around £200, which will go towards patient care and could pay for a Hospice at Home nurse to visit a patient, who is seriously ill at home and provide hands-on care and medication to make them comfortable.

Pat Gibbs, who manages the shop, said: “I’m really pleased with how the raffle went because it is my first one. All the volunteers gave generously for the prizes and I would like to thank everyone who brought a ticket.”
