New Waitrose store helps local hospice

The new Waitrose store in Hornchurch donated £280 to Saint Francis Hospice last week, as part of their Community Matters Scheme. The scheme offers customers the chance to vote using green tokens they are given every time they shop. They choose between three local charities, and then £500 is divided proportionally between them.

Andy Claridge, the manager of the Hornchurch store which opened in November last year, also kindly donated a bottle of pink Champagne for one of the hospice’s Valentines Day raffles.

Community fundraiser Rochelle Hodds said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the store for their support – the Champagne was a lovely surprise, and will help us raise more vital funds from one of our raffles.  Also, a big thank you to everyone who voted for us in store, we rely on the support of our community to help us continue to provide first class care, free of charge, to local people living with a life limiting illness.”
