Thank you for support at Havering Show

Visitors arrived in their droves to the Saint Francis Hospice stalls at the Havering Show last week. Over £3,800 was raised across a number of stalls held to raise money for the hospice.

The Havering East Rotary Club held a roll-a-dice to win a car competition, in which contestants had to throw seven die in an attempt to roll a six on each one. The prize was a VW Polo worth £14,000, kindly donated by Inchcape, Romford.

George Hagger from the Rotary Club said: “It was a fantastic weekend, our best ever. The show was busy, active and lively and we felt our stall worked really well alongside the Saint Francis Hospice stall. Lots of people know someone who has been treated at Saint Francis, and who has received the excellent care they provide there.”

The Hornchurch and District Allotment Society raised in excess of £2,000 for the hospice, through the sales of their home grown produce.

Lynda Head, the Community Fundraising Manager at the Saint Francis said: “This is the third year that we have run the stall at the Havering Show and been supported by both these wonderful associations. We cannot thank them enough for their continued help and support. We’re lucky to have such good friends in the community – the hospice relies on the support of the local community to ensure it can continue providing facilities such as the inpatients unit and day care centre to people suffering life limiting illnesses, free of charge.”
