Volunteer drivers and drivers mates needed by hospice shops
01 August 2011
If you have a full driving licence and some time to spare Saint Francis Hospice shops are looking for your help.
Our shops company is appealing for volunteer drivers and drivers mates to collect and deliver donations to sell in the shops and raise money for patient care provided by the hospice.
Drivers can do hours to suit them, are fully covered by Hospice insurance and will be given training in manual handling. Vehicles are provided. The role involves some heavy lifting as furniture is among the items that need collecting, although staff work in pairs, so there is help available.
Steve Rose, General Manager of Saint Francis Hospice (Shops) Ltd, said: “Our drivers play a vital role in our service as they collect donations from people who cannot get to our shops as well as gifts of large items such as furniture for us to sell in our shops. This all contributes to the money we are able to raise for Saint Francis Hospice to provide specialist care and support, free of charge, to local people affected by life-limiting illness.
“We need more volunteers to help with deliveries and collections and look forward to hearing from you if you have some time to spare for your local hospice.”
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver for the shops, which have outlets in Havering, Barkingside, Brentwood and Dagenham, please call 01708 376269.
