Robert is a Consultant Physician.

Vice Chairman - Neville A Brown JP

Trustee since 1996
Neville A Brown JP retired in 1995 at the end of a long career as a Commercial Manager with Shell.  He served as a Magistate for twelve years and continues to sit on Panels for Statutory Appeals.  Having applied his business skills to good use for the hospice, NAB is also heavily involved in other community work; being an Elected Governor at Basildon Hospital, Chairman of the South Essex CSS Management Committee, Chairman of a Sports Trust in Brentwood and also a School Governor.

Joan Matthews

Trustee since 1978
Joan Matthews has been involved with the hospice since the very beginning and was part of the team responsible for the original idea.   Walk into Saint Francis Hospice on a Wednesday and there is a good chance that Joan Matthews will be one of the first people you meet.  Joan is eighty nine and regularly drives from Southend to Havering-atte-Bower inspired by her commitment to those who need her comfort and support in her role as chaplaincy volunteer. Joan was former Secretary of Havering Community Health Council.

Jim Hooper FCA

Trustee since 1994
Jim Hooper was aware of the fantastic work done by Saint Francis Hospice since it opened back in 1984, so when he was asked to become a trustee he did not hesitate. Jim is a retired Company Accountant.

Peter Adams CEng MIStructE MIMgt

Peter is the retired Head of Technical & Operational Services for the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham

David Burton FCA

David is a Chartered Accountant

Peter Crutchett MA FIA ASA

Trustee since 2005

Peter Crutchett is an actuary by profession and spent most of his professional career advising company directors and pension fund trustees on the financing of pension and other employee benefits.   Peter is a retired partner in the business advisory firm KPMG where his work also included identifying practical solutions to problems involving financial risk, facilitating strategic decisions and implementing change.  He also has experience of managing businesses with income and expenditure similar to that of Saint Francis Hospice.
 

Alan Gray FCA 

Alan is Director of Finance & Operations for The Leprosy Mission International and Honorary Treasurer for the Council of Management.

Richard Thatcher BCs

Richard is a former research engineer working for Ford Motor Company

Robin Wright

Robin spent virtually all his career in the Courts Service.  He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Grays Inn in 1979.  Gained further academic qualifications after becoming a Barrister in management and training.  Retired in 2003.  Has been Chairman of a School Board of Governors for a number of years.
