The coexistence of palliative care and critical care may seem conflicting in the technological world of ICU. However,
contemporary critical care should be as concerned with palliation as with the prevention, diagnosis, monitoring and
treatment of life-threatening conditions.

Who is this for?
This study day is aimed at health and social care professionals working in both intensive care and palliative care settings.

What will I study?
• Ethical challenges in withdrawing/withholding critical care treatment
• Communication
• Family support
• Palliation for the ICU patient including symptom management
• The final steps
• Withdrawal of critical care at home

Fee: Usually £75 per person - but now 2 bookings for the price of one. £40 student rate
