Cycling for love and charity

When Paul Jackson bought a bike six-months-ago and joined a cycling club he had no idea it would change his life.

Paul, 41, and his wife Sarah, 38, are in training for their first cycling challenge - the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100, which will take them through the capital and the scenic Surrey countryside on Sunday, July 30th.

And while a 100-mile cycle will be a real test of endurance the couple are looking forward to the experience.

“Cycling has completely taken over my life and I’ve even changed my career and moved into a cycling career because I wanted to do something I was passionate about,” said Paul, from Romford.  Paul with the fundraising team

Paul, who previously worked as an engineer in the city and now works at Cycle Surgery in Kings Cross, bought his first road bike in November after joining Hornchurch Cycling Club a month earlier.

“I hated my old life as it was so stressful but now I look forward to going to work every day,” said the father-of-one.

“Up until six months ago I hadn’t ridden a bike in 25 years and now every spare moment I get I am out cycling.

“I am fitter than I’ve been in years and it is really such a pleasure to ride with the club.

“Being part of a club helps you to realise what you can achieve with a bike.”

Raising money for Saint Francis Hospice is an added bonus as it is the club’s chosen charity for the second year running and Paul also has a connection with the hospice as it cared for his wife’s grandad in the 1990s.

We still have places available so sign up here today and get on your bike!
