Tee'd up for Christmas

Kevin Smith's year as Captain of Romford Golf Club concluded with members of the club raising £7,500 for Saint Francis Hospice.

A further £7,500 was given to the Little Havens children's hospice. The two charities were selected as many of the members have a connection with the hospices and raised in a variety of ways, including a charity golf day and charity auction which raised £7,000. The two hospices were presented with their money at a dinner held at the golf club on Sunday 13th December.

After accepting the cheque on behalf of Saint Francis Hospice, Mary-Anne Donovan, Corporate Partnership Executive, said: "We are so grateful to receive such a generous donation from the club. We couldn't continue to do what we do without people like the members of Romford Golf Club in the community supporting us."

Following the dinner the Salvation Army band arrived for a Christmas carol service.
