When the severity or nature of pain experienced does not fit with a clear organic explanation from disease or symptoms, this medically unexplained pain may be caused by spiritual distress. Pain is experienced through the lenses of how we make
meaning.

> How spiritual suffering, especially in certain cultures, may manifest itself as physical pain
