Patients And Carers
At a time when there is a huge focus on the patient, family members can find themselves adrift in a sea of emotions without anyone to whom they can turn.
Services from Saint Francis hospice are there for families, friends and carers as well as patients. We recognise how overwhelming emotions can be at this time and offer counselling for those who are close to the patient so that they can explore how they feel and come to terms with their changing situation.
As well as emotional support we can help in practical ways, providing advice on benefits and grants, ensuring you have the help you need in terms of day to day care, and supplying information on other support services such as agency carers or nursing homes.
Our bereavement counsellors support families, including very young children, and our chaplains are on hand for patients and their loved ones. A multi-faith prayer room is available at our hospice for those who want to spend time in thought or prayer.
You do not need to struggle to cope. Talk to us and see how we can help alleviate the pressure so that you can enjoy precious time with the person you love.
