Snooker legend Steve Davis continues his support for the hospice
Last week the wonderful Steve Davis, dropped into the hospice - Steve is a great supporter of ours donating £38,000 from his appearance on ITV's The Chase last year.
During his visit Steve spent time with staff from the Hospice at Home & Community Nurse Specialists teams - his father Bill was due to receive their care before he died but sadly he took a fall and was admitted to hospital.
"I'm delighted to be involved with the hospice not just because my father had Hospice at Home Care but because my good friend Barry Hearn is so involved with them and I know that anything Barry gets involved in is a great cause.
"We know full well that every hospice around the country needs as much help as it can get because the government doesn't really support them as strongly as it could, so it's all hands on deck and I am in the fortunate position of having time on my hands."
This year he is hosting a family & friends Golf Day at Stockbrook Manor on Friday 6th April visit www.sfh.org.uk/777071093-pdf ⛳
Steve was very impressed with the Community Nurse Specialists who came for the initial visit and the way they spoke to his father and family 'we weren't sure how to speak to Dad about hospice care' but Steve says he learned from the experience and that 'you should try and have those difficult conversations, Dad knew what was going on and he was fine about it.
"I've had a very lucky life in many ways and without sounding too clichéd you owe it to yourself to put something back."
When Steve went into Pemberton Place, our day services were in full swing & he was inundated with requests for photos & selfies - he happily obliged in return for coffee and a biscuit
