Sue completes Liverpool Half Marathon - blog 4
Liverpool is a great city, full of culture, shops, museums, history, scouse (stew to you & me) and of course the Beatles.
We arrived on Friday to prepare for the LIVERPOOL HALF MARATHON on Sunday.
The Saturday was full, a tour of the city on the sightseeing bus, a visit to the "Beatles story" exhibition and a good old-fashioned runners dinner of pasta.
An early night was called for as the race started at 9am (who decided the hour would spring forward too?)
A lovely bright morning greeted us, a short walk to Albert Dock and there we joined the 6,000 runners nervously stretching and warming up.
The run itself was a lovely mix of road, 3 parks and 4 miles home along the docks.
It was flat, fast and interesting....lots of support and I felt happy and in control the whole way.
I finished well, happy with my time...1 hr 39 and spent the rest of the day in the Cavern Club (re-hydrating of course).
Thanks once again for reading this, just over 2 weeks to London now!
A heavy training week ahead but I feel happy and excited about being part of such an iconic race and of course, because the money raised will go towards caring for our patients, their friends and families.
