In 2015 Saint Francis Hospice made its first steps to becoming a Dementia Friendly Organisation with all staff attending this Dementia Friends session. The Dementia Friends programme is the biggest initiative ever to change people’s perceptions of dementia and transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.
Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society led initiative which aims to increase Dementia awareness and then turn that understanding into action and is part of the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia. There are now over one million Dementia Friends across England and Wales and the numbers are continuing to grow.
Saint Francis Hospice has a team of Dementia Friends Champions who are able to deliver sessions and we welcome anyone to attend. Sessions take approximately 45 mins to one hour and attendees will learn more about dementia and the small ways they can help.
These session are free of charge.
