Little Myles Open Garden Days

30-06-2019

Judy and Adrian Cowan are opening their romantic, ever-changing three acre garden at Little Myles once again, in aid of our Hospice.

Little Myles 3There are many different gardens to explore within Little Myles Garden. The Prairie Garden, Beach Garden and Jungle all have whacky, chalk-painted murals on the back fence with appropriate plantings in each area. There are also many sculptures of parrots, monkeys, giraffe and even a wire elephant in the Jungle, and seagulls, seal and seaside plants in the Beach Garden. There is also a Slate Garden with fountain,  Herb Garden, natural pond, ornamental Vegetable Patch and Asian Garden complete with bamboos, monkeys, cloud tree and water-filled pots.

Little Myles 3There is much to see, not only for adults but also for children who are given a free Explorers Sheet and Map of the garden which shows where they will find various sculptures like the Gruffalo, Peter Rabbit and friends and, new this year, the Three Billy Goats Gruff near the little wooden bridge.

Our Wildflower Meadow is fast changing as more and more plants are added, such as mixed perennials and annual wildflowers. The young silver birch spinney is maturing nicely and blackthorn thickets have been pruned and cleared.

So, we invite you to come and spend a few gentle hours exploring this maturing, tranquil garden and enjoy lovely homemade cakes and scones with seating in the Tea Room and also under trees and on the  main lawn.

The garden will be open on Sunday 30th June between 11am-4pm. The following Sunday, 7th July, they officially open under the National Garden Scheme. On both days there will be a plant stall, crafts and homemade teas. Admission £5, children free.
