CM15 is a lucky lottery postcode!

Lottery luck struck twice for two women from the Brentwood area as they got to share £7,500 in prize money.

Diane Payne, 75, has been playing the Saint Francis Hospice lottery since 2011 and was delighted to scoop the £6,500 rollover.

"I am absolutely astounded," said Diane, "I actually forgot that I'd signed up to the lottery and thought I was just making a donation to the charity.

"The hospice is such a worthwhile cause and does remarkable work for the community, and we believe that everyone should help in whatever way they can."

The grandmother said her son Aaron died of a brain tumour in 2013 and although he did not enter a hospice, she believes he would have had a better end of life experience if he had done so.

She also recalled a visit her husband made to a hospice in Wales in the past when he worked for a consultancy company, and said it had left a lasting impression on the couple.

"I remember him telling me at the time that he was very apprehensive about the visit there but he thoroughly enjoyed it," said the grandmother.

"He said it was so calm, loving, and uplifting and he hadn't been expecting that at all."
Another woman living just a few miles away scooped the weekly £1,000 jackpot.

David Holmes, Head of Individual Giving at Saint Francis Hospice said: "Thanks to our regular players like Diane the lottery raises hundreds of thousands of pounds to help fund our nurses and doctors.

Each number in the weekly Saint Francis Hospice lottery costs £1 and you can have up to 20 numbers.

In addition to the guaranteed weekly first prize of £1,000, 10 lucky winners each get £10 and there is a rollover second prize of £1,000 in the draw to be made on May 20th.

Last year a lucky woman from Brentwood won £24,500 on our rollover! You can sign up to the hospice lottery online at www.sfh.org.uk or call 01708 771433."
