Double win for lucky ladies
Barking and Dagenham continues with its winning streak after Andrea Hardy, 42, from Dagenham scooped £1,000 on Saint Francis Hospice's weekly prize draw.
And there was even better news for a 79-year-old grandmother from Barking who was delighted to discover she had won a whooping £5,500 in the lottery rollover.
Andrea has been supporting the hospice ever since it cared for her father Michael Laws, 66, before he died of cancer in 2013.
"I got to spend quite a lot of time at the hospice and I was amazed by the care that they gave to patients," said the mother of one, who has also taken part in the hospice's Santathon event.
"Playing the lottery is just a small way of me giving something back."
Andrea, who works for an insurance company, said the family would be jetting off to Cyprus next month so the windfall had come at a good time.
Last week Geoffrey Stolz, 45, also from Dagenham, won £1,000.
David Holmes, Head of Individual Giving at Saint Francis Hospice said: "Thanks to our regular players like Vera and Andrea the lottery raises hundreds of thousands of pounds to help fund our nurses and doctors.
Each number in the weekly Saint Francis Hospice lottery costs £1 and you can have up to 20 numbers. In addition to the guaranteed weekly first prize of £1,000, 10 lucky winners each get £10 and there is a rollover second prize in the draw to be made on July 10th of £1,000.
Earlier this year a lucky woman from Brentwood won £24,500 on our rollover! You can sign up to the hospice lottery online or call 01708 771433."
