Family to join Santa-fun for the first time!
Alison Friend, along with her two children Baylie and Ben, sister Michelle Thompson, her husband Paul Thompson and daughter Millie, and their nephew Matthew Friend and niece Kimberley Friend, has signed up to our10th Santathon for the first time.
The annual 5k fun run will take place at Barking and Dagenham football club on Sunday, December 9 and the family are also excited that our patron, West Ham and England legend Sir Trevor Brooking, will be there to greet supporters and send them on their way!
"We are really looking forward to it as it's something we can do together as a family and it is fun," said Alison.
"We cannot thank Saint Francis Hospice enough for the amazing care it gave my mum earlier this year when she spent three weeks on the inpatient unit and for the support it gave us and continues to give our family."
Joyce Friend died on February 3 and Alison has been receiving support from our confidential helpline OrangeLine and will be accessing its bereavement service to help her to cope with her grief.
We're happy to do anything we can to try to give something back to the hospice and to help it to keep on doing the fantastic job it does," said Alison.
This year participants will not only receive an exclusive Santathon medal when they pass the finish line, but they will have the chance to win Christmas dinner if they catch our runaway turkey!
