Safeguarding Week - It's everyone's responsibility

Saint Francis Hospice ran an awareness campaign to inform staff, patients and volunteers about our internal policy and safegaurding leads.

Last week we relaunched our Safeguarding policy to tie in with Havering Council's first annual Safeguarding Week.

Tes Smith, Director of Quality & Care, said "we wanted to support this important initiative by Havering council; this is a key area for our staff to be trained in."

"One in three people we care for have dementia and are therefore vulnerable"  she continued "they need to have their rights safeguarded whilst they are protected"

"We put together a series of posters that highlight the types of issues, staff, patients and volunteers may come across with the slogan 'Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, if you see something, say something.'

Tracie Brennan who co-ordinate the weeks events said "we believe this is a simple but important message."
