For some people running 13.1 miles might not be a big deal, but for Sharise, 27, it is a huge challenge and helping people affected by life-limiting illnesses has given her even greater determination to push herself to the limit.

Before Sharise signed up for the run on Sunday, March 18th, she didn't even own a pair of trainers but she was so inspired after speaking to a runner that she decided to go for it.

"I can't even run downSharise close up by The Rabbits sign the road and I never thought I would ever be able to run a half marathon, but I spoke with a runner who has completed lots of marathons and half marathons, and she encouraged me and made me realise I could do it," said Sharise, who works at The Rabbits pub in Stapleford Abbotts, which is run by her boyfriend Mark Kelly and his dad Mick Kelly.

And when Sharise discovered the hospice was one of the partner charities of the Rotary Club of Brentwood a Becket, which organises the event, she knew it was meant to be!

"We have been supporting Saint Francis Hospice since we took over the running of the pub in 2014 as we know how much it means to our customers in the village and in the community.

"It does such amazing work and we would not consider supporting any other charity.   "It has helped the family and friends of many of our regulars, who I know will support me every step of the way!

Sharise has already looked up the route, which will take her through the stunning Brentwood countryside, and has given herself an ideal finish time of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

"I am so excited," she added.  "I'm going to enjoy Xmas and will start building up my distance in the New Year."
