At the London Gardens Society Awards on Thursday, October 5th Saint Francis Hospice was presented with a gold medal in both the small garden and patio and container categories and a bronze medal in the large garden category.

Best of all, it was awarded a joint overall first in the London Hospice Gardens category, along with Royal Trinity Hospice in Clapham.

This means Saint Francis Hospice will get to look after the Worshipful Company of Gardeners Trophy, a silver salver, for six months before passing it on to Royal Trinity Hospice for the next six months.

Last year the hospice won a gold medal for its patio, hanging baskets and window boxes and a silver medal in the large gardens category and in 2015 it won a silver medal and a bronze medal in the same categories respectively.

"We are over the moon to have received these prestigious awards," said Claire White, Head Gardener at the hospice, who was at the Guildhall in London with her team to pick up the awards.

"We are incredibly proud of our beautiful gardens and we know that they make such a difference to patients, families, staff, volunteers and visitors.

"Our dedicated volunteers work hard to ensure the gardens are always such a relaxing and peaceful space for everyone to enjoy and it is wonderful to be recognised in this way."
