As part of Children's Grief Awareness Week UK (November 19-25) highlighting the needs of bereaved young people in the community, the hospice is focusing on the services it provides to children and those who support them.

"The death of a loved one can have a devastating impact on a child's life and Children's Grief Awareness Week UK is an opportunity to put the spotlight on the needs and challenges bereaved young people may be faced with," said Paul Sullivan, Family Support Services Manager at the hospice.

"Saint Francis Hospice offers a range of services to help children to rebuild their lives.
"We also provide education and training to supporters so they have a greater understanding of the rollercoaster of emotions grieving children may experience and how they can support them."

Throughout the week we will be using social media and our website to feature:

- Activities such as 'Fireworks and Feelings' and 'Foot Up' that have taken place in recent months to give children an opportunity to express their emotions and feelings through art and crafts as well as adventurous pursuits such a rock climbing.

- Education and training courses held at the hospice's Pepperell Education Centre and in schools to ensure education providers and youth organisations have a greater understanding of the challenges a bereaved child may be facing so they can support them in the best way possible.

- On our website we will be posting the blogs three children who are currently receiving counselling following the death of a parent or sibling to find out how the hospice has been helping them.
