Sir Trevor Brooking kicks off hospice's 5k Santathon

Hammers hero Sir Trevor Brooking CBE will be kicking off a 5k fun run in which hundreds of Santas will dash through the streets of Dagenham for their local hospice.

Saint Francis Hospice's 9th annual Santathon is back again on Sunday, December 10th at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club and the charity is thrilled Sir Trevor will be there to motivate and inspire the runners, who will be kitted out in traditional red and white, before they set off.     

The former West Ham and England football legend visited the hospice on October 18th to formally open its new model of outpatient services called Pemberton Place.     Dagenham 88 Runners - large

And he chatted with patients, staff and volunteers to find out more about the specialist care and support the charity provides to people who are affected by life limiting illnesses.     
He returned this week (Tuesday, October 31) to spend more time with patients and sign autographs and memorabilia -  and he even recorded a short video encouraging supporters to sign up for the festive fundraising event.

Anne Brown, Head of Fundraising, said, "Sir Trevor is a true sporting legend and we're absolutely delighted that he's agreed to join in our Dagenham 88 Runners - largemost exciting festive event of the year.       

"It will make this year's Santathon extra special for all our runners, a real treat for them as they get into action to raise money for patient care."

Entry costs £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s - which includes a Santa suit. Check in opens at 9.30am and the run starts at 11am.
