Summer Raffle brings sunshine and fabulous prizes

Our summer raffle raised an incredible £47,000 to fund end of life services and with a fabulous selection of prizes up for grabs, our winners were all sunshine and smiles.

The grand prize of £8,000 cash was won by a woman from Hornchurch and the second prize goes to Liam Little from Barking who picked up a £1,000 Thomas Cook voucher so all he has to do now is decide on where to jet off to.

Liam, 66, has been supporting Saint Francis Hospice since it cared for his wife Gabriel Little before she died of cancer 20 years ago.  Caroline O'Haire - iPad Air winner

"She was at the hospice for a couple of weeks and the staff could not do enough for her," said the retired construction worker.

And our three third prize winners each took home an Apple iPad Air 2.

Caroline O'Haire, from Harold Hill, was delighted to come to the hospice to collect her stylish tablet computer.

And while she doesn't have a personal connection with the charity she knows all about its work through her role as a Service Manager with North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT).  "I have come into contact with the hospice through my work and I know how important end of life care is," said Caroline.

"I have had patients who were referred to the hospice and I have always thought the charity is everything it should be.   Caroline O'Haire - iPad Air winner

"I'm really chuffed to win this iPad as the only thing I've ever won was a butter dish and that was around 30 years ago!"

Sue Wilson from Ilford was also pleased to discover she had one of the winning third prize tickets.

"I support the hospice because it is a local charity and I know it does incredible work for people in the community," she said.

"Our Summer Raffle is one of our fundraising initiatives which helps us raise a significant amount of money to fund our excellent care and support services," said David Holmes, Data and Direct Marketing Manager at the hospice.
