The festive spirit is in the air for lottery couple
A young mother is looking forward to getting her Christmas shopping underway after winning £1,000 on the Saint Francis Hospice lottery.
Jodie Harvey, 32, initially thought it was too good to be true when she received a call to say she had won the charity's weekly jackpot.
"At first I thought it was a prank as I've never won anything before but when the cheque came through the door I was ecstatic, I am beaming from ear to ear," said Jodie(pictured), who lives in Rainham with her partner Jamie and their three-year-old Sydney.
"I can now go out and do some Christmas shopping for everyone without worrying."
Jodie, who has set up the personalised baby and children's clothing business Justjolly, signed up to the lottery after one of the hospice's ambassadors visited her stall at an event in Havering and told her all about the services it provides.
"The lady came up to my stall and after she bought something she talked about Saint Francis Hospice," said Jodie.
"I thought it was amazing and I wanted to do what I could to support the charity."
The windfall has come at a particularly good time for the couple, who are expecting their second child next Spring and are due to fly out to Rome for a short break to celebrate Jamie's 30th birthday.
David Holmes, Head of Individual Giving at Saint Francis Hospice said: "It is thanks to our regular players like Jodie that the lottery raises hundreds of thousands of pounds to help fund our nurses and doctors.
Each number in the weekly Saint Francis Hospice lottery costs £1 and you can have up to 20 numbers. In addition to the guaranteed weekly first prize of £1,000, 10 lucky winners each get £10 and there is a rollover second prize of £2,500 in the draw to be made on December 18th. Earlier this year a lucky woman from Brentwood won £24,500 on our rollover! You can sign up to the hospice lottery at www.sfh.org.uk or call 01708 771433."
