Vicky Miles-Gale is the Voluntary Project Services Manager at Saint Francis Hospice.  Here she shares how the hospice is saying a very special thank you to all its wonderful volunteers.

Saying thank you to our volunteers for all that they do is an essential tenet of our reward and recognition offer.

On Friday 26th September, we were delighted to hold the first of our volunteer Afternoon Tea thank you events. We welcomed almost 60 volunteers to come along and enjoy an afternoon.

The Education Centre at the hospice was decorated, tables were set and a delicious Afternoon Tea of sandwiches, scones and cakes was provided and our guests were waited on by dedicated staff who wanted to say thank you to the volunteers.

There was also a free raffle - each guest received a raffle ticket on entry.  The voluntary services team had put together two amazing hampers - one focused on wellbeing and one with tasty treats.

The event was organised and delivered by the Voluntary Services Team, supported by staff from the Education Team and staff from finance, communications, therapies, people and culture and our OrangeLine service.

The event was so well received that we will be holding a second Afternoon Tea event in November 2025 for a further 60 of our volunteers.   And at the beginning of October, there will also be a volunteer thank you disco for 120 of our volunteers.  We hope that by offering a number of different events through the year, we can reach as many volunteers as possible to say thank you.
