Saint Francis Hospice is delighted to announce that our 2026 Christmas Tree Recycling Campaign raised an incredible £48,000, making it our most successful yet thanks to the incredible support of our community.

This year, 75 dedicated volunteers gave their time over four days (8th to 11th January) in freezing temperatures to collect real Christmas trees in Havering, Brentwood, Barking and Dagenham and parts of West Essex.

Together, they contributed an amazing 424 hours of voluntary work, enabling us to recycle 2,077 Christmas trees. Thanks to the generosity of supporters who made donations, the campaign raised an incredible £48,000. This will go directly towards supporting people who desperately need our expert compassionate care, and their loved ones too.

“A huge thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Christmas Tree Recycling Campaign,” said Charlotte Winder, Events Manager at Saint Francis Hospice.

“From our volunteers who gave their time, to those who donated and helped us raise an incredible £48,000, this has been our most successful year yet! It’s important to remember that Saint Francis Hospice depends on donations to fund almost 70% of our care and support services, and no money was raised from the collection or recycling of the trees, every penny came from the kindness of our supporters. Your generosity ensures we can continue to be there for local people when they need us most. We are so grateful for this amazing community effort.”

We couldn’t have achieved this without the kindness and hard work of so many people. A heartfelt thank you to our sponsor Paragon, our Christmas tree drop off stations - Harrow, Calcott Hall Farm, Romford Dogs, Sharps Skips, Dagenham and Redbridge FC, and Stubbers along with our fantastic chippers: Prince, Kempsters, JBL Grounds Care Ltd, Specialist Garden, and Kings Cuts.

We also had great support from the following local businesses: Valero, NC Range SiteNC Construction, LWC Drinks, Mayfield Building Services ADS Painters and Decorators, CTM Van Hire, Griffin Residential, Caines Pizza, Brooke Street Body and Paint, The Lounge Wine Bar Ingatestone, T Cribb and Son and Crystal Chandelier Services

We hope everyone will be back to support us again in January 2027

We have a wide variety of volunteering roles available, so please consider giving us the gift of your time, skills, and experience. It’s an opportunity to make a difference to so many people’s lives while making new friends and using your skills.
