Saint Francis Hospice Celebrates Redbridge Pride

On Saturday 12th July, Andy Furneaux and myself attended the Redbridge Pride event, in Ilford Town Hall, hosted by Redbridge Rainbow. It was such an amazing event, culturally diverse, colourful and tremendous fun, with 300 people coming through the door.
Andy and I met so many interesting and friendly people, who have become new friends of the hospice, many taking away lots of information about our services, how to fundraise and how to become a volunteer.
We were treated to dancing from the Bollyqueer Workshop and entertainment and singing by our own Tyra Missou, aka Josh Singleton, an ex-employee of Hospice Community Team, now a paramedic at Queens hospital.
We were also pleased to welcome Wes Streeting, Ilford MP and Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to our stand. Wes knew so much about our hospice already, he impressed us with his knowledge and was so supportive for our strategy 2025-30. As was Ali, a volunteer in one of our stores, who shared her story of becoming a transwoman, and we are delighted that she had agreed to become a member of our LGBTQ+ steering group here at the hospice.
We feature in this amazing video from Redbridge Rainbow:
