Reasons you should remember a charity in your Will

With summer holidays coming to an end and that “Back to School” feeling everywhere, September can be for many of us a time of new intentions and our thoughts turn to making plans for the next few months and beyond. This can include thinking about protecting our loved ones through making a Will.

This week is Remember a Charity Week from 5th - 11th September; it’s an annual campaign which helps to raise awareness of how important it is to make a Will and include a gift to chosen charities.

After the last few challenging years and with further uncertain times ahead, it seems more important than ever to consider leaving valuable gifts in our Wills to the charities we are passionate about who’ve touched our lives and the real benefits of doing this.

Saint Francis Hospice has always been incredibly grateful for the generous gifts our wonderful supporters have given. You may be surprised to know that 1 in 5 of the local people we care for are currently funded by gifts in Wills. Leaving a legacy gift helps us to provide that essential care now and in the future for those who need it.

Did you know that there are several ways that you can get a Will made through our own Hospice Make a Will campaign?

For the past decade, the Hospice has been running our Make a Will Campaign in partnership with local Solicitors. Since 2021, we have been working with both F Barnes based in Romford/Gidea Park and Taylors Legal based in Chigwell. As part of the campaign, both solicitors have offered to write standard or mirror wills with the fee that they would normally charge being donated directly to the Hospice. Our Make a Will campaign is a great opportunity to either write or update a Will and support the Hospice at the same time.

The Hospice also works closely with Guardian Angel, our online Wills partner for you to make an online Will free of charge, in return that you consider leaving the Hospice a gift in your Will.

Thank you so much to everyone who has pledged to leave a gift in their Will, and those who have done so in the past. We really couldn't do all this without you.
