Palliative Care Awards 2025

Saint Francis Hospice is incredibly proud to have been recognised on the national stage for its excellence in palliative and end of life care.
The Palliative Care Awards 2025 took place on Friday 27th June at the Hilton London Bankside. The event brought together people from hospices and care organisations across the country to celebrate the amazing work taking place to care for people, and their loved ones, at the most difficult time in their lives.
Jo Catterall, who is a volunteer with the e-commerce team, won the Outstanding Volunteer Award. The judges commented, “Jo brings exceptional dedication, creativity, and warmth to her volunteering at Saint Francis Hospice. Her expertise in e-commerce—particularly in collectibles, jewellery, and unique items—has helped generate vital income, with meticulous care given to every listing.
Jo also leads beautifully curated Retail Therapy events and thoughtfully prepares festive gift bags for carers, ensuring each detail offers joy and appreciation”
The Family and Individual Support Services team was Highly Commended in the Bereavement Support Award category. The judges commented, “The Family and Individual Support Services Team provides deeply compassionate, holistic support through death, dying, and bereavement. With empathy and expertise, they guide individuals of all ages through loss, while empowering professionals and training volunteers, ensuring no one faces grief alone.”
Dr Corinna Midgley was a finalist for The Lifetime Achievement to Excellence in Palliative Care Award in recognition of her commitment over the 24 years to ensuring everyone in our local community receives the best end of life care.
Andy Furneaux, who has helped to raise over £1m over the past 11 years, was a finalist for the Fundraiser Award.
“It’s such a privilege to be able to celebrate, learn from others and be inspired by daily acts of selfless commitment by so many,” said Grazina Berry, Chief Executive Officer at Saint Francis Hospice.
