Saint Francis Hospice recognised for Outstanding Contribution to Barking and Dagenham Community
Saint Francis Hospice was proud to be recognised for its ‘Outstanding Contribution’ at this year’s Pride of Barking and Dagenham Awards.
The awards presentation was organised by Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce to celebrate businesses, charities and people making a difference to their community, and took place at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club on Thursday 10th October.
Talented artist Katja Rosenberg, who created a 30ft mural outside Dagenham Heath Station with the help of 400 school children, was named the overall winner.
Saint Francis Hospice and the London School of Management Education were presented with a special award to recognise their ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Pride of Barking and Dagenham.
Dr Corinna Midgley, Medical Director at Saint Francis Hospice, Jo Noguera, Head of Ward Services and Adam Gordon, Corporate Services Manager were there to receive the award.
“We are so pleased to be here to see Katja Rosenberg win the award,” said Dr Corinna.
“She has created such wonderful art and used it so brilliantly to engage with and involve the people of Barking and Dagenham.
“We are honoured and proud to stand alongside all the fantastic businesses, organisations, and individuals who were shortlisted with us.
“We were thrilled to be shortlisted and to receive the ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award and we are very grateful to the Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce for this.
“Saint Francis Hospice celebrated 40 years of caring for local people this year.
“Our mission - to provide local people with excellent palliative and end-of-life care and support, before, during, and after death ?" continues to drive us.
“It is a privilege to have cared for and supported thousands of people in Barking and Dagenham over that time.
“Our work continues, and we are always working to find new ways of connecting, to ensure that people who don’t already know about us find us, and those who are worried about hospice care feel more confident in what we do and allow us to help.
“The recognition we have received will help to raise our profile in the borough and to reach out to even more people who need our services. Thank you so much.”
