Strictly Saint Francis raises an incredible £46,000 for Hospice Care

Strictly Saint Francis was a dazzling success, bringing together over 850 guests for an evening of fabulous entertainment as seven courageous amateur dancers and their professional partners competed for the coveted Glitter Ball Trophy.
This was the first time Saint Francis Hospice hosted the dance extravaganza, which was held at The Brentwood Centre on Friday 24th October and raised over £46,000.
“Thank you to everyone who came along to support our very first Strictly Saint Francis and helped us raise an incredible £46,000 for people who need our compassionate palliative and end of life care,” said Charlotte Winder, Community and Events Manager at Saint Francis Hospice.
“We are so proud of our dancers and their professional partners – they were exceptional. Over the past three months, they trained tirelessly to deliver a show full of entertainment and sparkle.”
The evening was made possible thanks to the dedication of hospice staff and volunteers who also surprised the audience with an opening dance routine performed by nurses and team members.
Andy Furneaux from the fundraising team was a phenomenal host, channelling the energy and glamour of Strictly Come Dancing throughout the night. His enthusiasm inspired generous donations from the audience.
Judging the competition were CEO Grazina Berry, alongside dance professionals Rita Sinclair, Sam Jeffery, and Ryan Curtis-Johnson.
Mary and her professional partner Frankie were crowned the winners and proudly took home the Glitter Ball Trophy.
Mary said, “What a night! What an experience! I am so full of love and gratitude for the privilege to be able to take part in this event and raise money and awareness for Saint Francis Hospice.
“I am more in awe of the Saint Francis Hospice team and people than even before! Thank you for all that you do.
“I had such a magical time from the launch, all the way through to the night, and winning was just a truly wonderful bonus. Frankie is the most incredible teacher and her choreography was amazing.”
Frankie added, “I was encouraged to do Strictly Saint Francis by my three children, but I didn’t need much persuading. The hospice was so supportive and caring when my Granddad was there, and it was the ideal chance to give something back.
“Mary was my perfect pairing and worked hard on her fundraising as well as her dancing. I think you could see what a joy it was for us to dance together, and we were obviously very surprised to win!”
The evening ended on a high, with the entire audience on their feet - dancing, cheering, and celebrating as all the performers returned to the floor for a final, joyful moment.
A special thanks goes to all of the amazing volunteers that spent many tireless hours helping us prepare for the event as well as helping us on the night. We are so grateful for your support!
