We are a dedicated team of nurses, providing symptom control expertise to other healthcare professionals or directly to patients, families and carers on the telephone or in their own homes. The ultimate aim of my role is to improve the quality of life for those affected by life-limiting diseases.
Although I work autonomously, I do not do so in isolation and have my colleagues’ and medical staff’s support at any time. Being referred to Saint Francis Hospice need not be viewed as ‘the end’, some view it as the beginning of a holistic experience.
I am inspired to be the best I can be every day, not only by the incredible team I work with but by the superb people who work for the hospice. It is more than a job and I feel privileged to be part of a charity that enables patients to live with dignity and support their families who may also be struggling to cope. I am passionate about my role and it’s great knowing that I make a difference to patients at a particularly distressing time in their lives.
